Beware! There’s a lot more to counting calories than simply looking at food labels. Counting calories can be misleading, especially if you are counting the wrong ones.
For example, 100 calories of sugar aren’t the same as 100 calories of broccoli; one is nutritious and the other can be harmful for the body!
Some other misleading calories include refined carbs and fructose, which is commonly found in processed foods and can cause quick spikes in blood sugar and then the inevitable “crash” a few hours later.
In fact, these harmful calories can even cause chronic diseases, such as Diabetes. So, the next time you think that a cookie or two is “only 150 calories”, think again.

For example, although that cookie might only be 100-150 calories, it is packed with artificial sugar, butter, saturated fat and cholesterol – none of which do your body any good, especially if you are trying to lose weight.
All in all, counting the wrong calories will not lead to healthy weight loss.
In fact, this could be considered a form of starvation, since you are “starving” the body of necessary nutrients. And it certainly won’t be doing your body any good to pack it with harmful, empty calories.
